A Weekend Break

Last weekend we took advantage of our freedom (and the fact that we are no longer ruled by the academic calendar) to drive up to the Granite Belt. We had a lovely 4 and a half days driving through beautiful country where we tasted wine, cheese, truffles and more.

We drove from Brisbane to Ballandean via Cunningham’s Gap, and stayed in Ballandean for four nights. From Ballandean we did a one day wine tour,

spent a day exploring the area near Stanthorpe,

and spent a day at Girraween National Park.

We drove home via the Falls Drive and Queen Mary Falls.

A full album of our trip photos is available on Google Photos.

It was a lovely trip – can’t wait to do some more traveling!

  1. We are anxiously waiting to be able to travel again. We could go anywhere in France as long as we’d be in for the night by 6, but the places we’d like to visit are still closed. That, and it’s still winter, so we’ll wait patiently for the vaccinations to get closer to ending the pandemic.
    Your trip looks lovely.

    1. We’re limited to domestic travel – and felt we should stay within Queensland to avoid the risk of snap border closures. We are eagerly awaiting the re-opening of international borders, and a trip to Europe is on the cards for 2022 or 2023.
